KUALA LUMPUR, 20 March 2019 – WillKey, Malaysia’s first centralised Will registry was  present at the 73rd Annual General Meeting of the Malaysian Bar to introduce its  concept and services to the members attending the meeting. Held on 16 March 2019 at Wisma MCA in Jalan Ampang, Kuala Lumpur, the Malaysian Bar meeting saw a total of 835 registered members and a host of other partners in attendance.

The physical presence of WillKey at the national meeting was to create better awareness  of WillKey’s services to the Advocates and Solicitors coming from every state in Peninsular Malaysia. With WillKey serving as a facility to register, store and search for Wills, where testators can register information about the whereabouts, or deposit copies of their Wills,  the efficiency of  the estate administration process can be improved and therefore benefit both clients and lawyers.

“Our motive is to  assist our clients in the legal profession, in areas such as Will registration  and storage. Having a Will is essentially important for anyone who has assets  and wanting  to determine who inherits them. WillKey seeks to ensure that  Wills can be easily found so as  to avoid disputes which can be  long drawn-out and which could extend from months to years. We believe that Malaysians are always looking for easier and more efficient ways to get things done, so as Malaysia’s first centralised Will registry, WillKey is offering a much-needed service in this niche. said Mr Su Tiang Joo, Director of MWD Wills Depository Sdn Bhd.

WillKey comes in as a centralised registry that allows predetermined persons such as lawyers, executors or next-of-kin to access information on a particular Will, conveniently and without hassle. It also serves as a platform for testators, lawyers and Will writing service providers to register and or store their Wills or their clients’ Wills with WillKey so as to make the search process for a Will less tedious.

WillKey intends to provide affordable services without compromising its security and credibility. A testator only need to register once with WillKey with a one-time fee of RM133.33. Will storage subscription fees are available from as low as RM3.33 per month. WillKey’s fees were designed with affordability in mind so as to avoid this investment in ensuring the security and safe retrieval of a Will becoming an undue financial burden.
